With a built-in corset, this dress is constructed with an infrastructure that will shape you, hold you in and keep you there well into the night. The fabric is a soft polished cotton with a retro rose motif print in hues of cocoa brown. The straps and bow are backed with a luscious champagne silk.
The bodice is pieced so that it is fitted and has a double set of darts to accommodate the bust. The front of the dress falls straight down with not gathers in the center. The hips however, are gathered beautifully in true Victorian style for a flattering fullness that cascades into a full sweep skirt. It closes at the rear with a metal zipper and large bow at the center back. No label but made with expert tailoring and detail.
The corseted bodice is fully boned, I counted 11 'stays' in the boning and fashioned of a cream taffeta. The polished cotton skirt is backed in a sheer off-white organza and there is also a separate off-white taffeta underskirt.
Please note in the photo of the dress open in the back to show the corset, the white narrow strap you see in the image is of a separate bra (not included) that I put on the dress form to help shape and fill out the bust.
16" across the back
Excellent. The bow in the back could use a few stitches of reinforcement so that it is better stabilized on the dress, it is not torn or falling off, this would be for additional stabilization.
