Adorable vintage peasant top, love the draw-string neckline and that the ties are embroidered at their very edges. The cross-stitch red flowers climb along a black embroidered vine for amazing contrast on the off-white cotton (cotton blend?) fabric.
Notice the square buttons, I believe they could be mother of pearl, but I'm not an expert.
The top nips in at the waist with gathers and tucks, providing a fitted, curvy silhouette.
This could be from the 30's, no labels so difficult to date.
Condition Excellent. It has overall yellowing from storage, as shown in the images. We have not attempted to clean. A few stitches have come undone in one of the front gathers. A small area in one of the side seams needs restitching, the fabric is not ripped, it's on the seam. This top doesn't show signs of wear, the fabric is still crisp and there are no underarm stains. I believe the yellowing is from storage.
It is adorable on!
