1950s Party Prom Dress Black Lace and Chiffon over Pearl Taffeta and Tulle
I rarely see these 1950s Cupcake Dresses in black and this one is exceptional. The strapless bodice is boned, fitted and trimmed in lace. It has the illusion affect with the pearl taffeta underneath, I'm in love with the contrast here. The cinched waist is trimmed with a velvet ribbon and from here as you can expect, the tiered skirt with alternating lace inserts flows in fullness to ballerina length. This one will be a blast to wear and I'm liking the way it photographs too.
The taffeta inner-dress acts as the lining. The boning is in the front to shape the bust. It zips up the side with a metal zipper. The skirt has three layers, an inner taffeta skirt, tulle center for fullness and chiffon and lace overlay. The chiffon is not silk, it feels like nylon.
We photographed the dress with a separate crinoline underneath, not included with the dress. The last image shows the dress without the crinoline.
Condition: Excellent. There might be slight shadowing under the arm on the zipper side. The dress is in great shape.
Length from top of center bust to hem 42 1/2".
