The small metal pieces form large diamond shapes down the center of this Geometric 1920s Art Deco Egyptian Assuit Assiut Shawl. At the edges, they are arranged in small peaks that form triangles between the straight lines / borders.
The mesh is very soft, it has a bit of a waxy feel to it, it's so soft. The color of the mesh is a warm tone charcoal black. The metal/stud pieces are bronzey nickel in color with specks of silver showing through. I'm not sure if the variation in the color of the metal is attributed to a finish that has some wear to it or if it's due to patina from age. Either way, it's stunning.
Condition: Excellent, I did notice one loose metal piece in one of the small diamonds. The mesh is in tact and the metal is solid. Stunning and wearable. Some of the metal pieces have darkened/tarnished.
This listing is for the assuit shawl only. Click here for the dress, sold separately.
