1930s 40s Black Cascading Ruffles Gown / Underslip for Study or Restoration

Not wearable, for study or repair, this vintage 1930s 40s black gown has cascading ruffles down the back that end in a mini train.  It may have had an over-dress at one time. Thin silky black fabric.

Because the narrow waist and side opening wouldn't allow the dress to go over the shoulders of the mannequin, I clipped this dress onto the outside of it to photograph it.  This makes it difficult to see the sweetheart neckline because the back of the dress is coming up from underneath on the front view. I show this with an arrow in the 4th image.

Condition:  See last few images.  There is dry rot on the neckline, shoulders, sleeves and around the very bottom of the train at the rear of the dress.  If the bodice is re-worked, it could probably be wearable.

Waist 27"
