Exquisite Custom-Made Embroidered Skirt - c. 1972 - Thailand
Exotic birds and butterflies soaring amidst a forest of over-sized flowers and foliage are satin stitched with the finest of sild flosses in brilliant jewel tones onto a buttery soft caramel silk 'canvass'. The short flared skirt has an easy no-waist fit with two large inverted box pleats in the front and back simulating a flat paneled look that gives way to the flared bottom. Fully lined in buff silk and with a side zipper closure, this skirt is exquisite in every detail.
Condition: Skirt - Excellent.
Jacket - TLC
I have photographed this skirt with the matching jacket which is not listed on this site. I did not intend to feature the jacket at all because it is damaged. The label, however is not in the skirt, but only in the jacket, a real indication to me that these two pieces belong together. The damage on the jacket consists of frayed piping at one cuff, pulled threads on the front of the jacket, half way down and a small (1" diameter) hole in the back of the jacket which I have photographed. I have priced this for the skirt alone and will give the jacket to you, the purchaser, so you can decide if you wish to move the label to the skirt, repair the jacket, etc. Some things just belong together.
